Balmain was calling...

Adriano Zumbo was our inspiration for today. We headed off to Balmain to sample some of his famous desserts and pastries. His patisserie is at 296 Darling Street Balmain, NSW. No coffee served here, but has all of his artistic yummies that people line up for out the door. Service was a little slow, but worth the wait! His masterpieces start from about $3.50 up to about $10.00. We bought a scrumptious sticky pear and macadamia brioche roll, a very smooth passionfruit tart, a cookie choc roll thingie, a few different maccaroons and an olive and rosemary sourdough loaf. Oh my... all totally delish! We grabbed a take away coffee close to the park and stuffed ourselves while the kids had a play.

We knew that Adriano Zumbo also had a cafe that we wanted to check out. We found it hidden away in Rozelle (next door suburb) 114 Terry St. Adriano Zumbo himself was there working away at his craft. The kids, Heath and I were in ore of him and his staff. They have a window in the cafe looking straight into the kitchen. The kids and I had a scrumptious Pork and Fennel Sausage Roll. Mmmmmmmm, it was so yummo we had two. For some reason we all thought it was sooo fun sitting there watching them all work away. I reckon we sat there for about 45 mins!

Due to my obsession with fabric shops at the moment, I googled "fabric shop Balmain" and Calico & Ivy popped up. And it has only been open a few days! The entrance is soo fresh. The inside is clean, crisp and bright. It's like a boutique fabric shop. It's at 10 Birchgrove Rd, Balmain. A quiet little street off the main drag. A must visit! Hey, and perhaps a yummy little something from Adriano Zumbo would just top the trip off. Check out their blog.

i am inlove with this photo! I want my house to look like this!! And the girls to sit in front of it for ever.

One last stop for the day was to My Messy Room in Summer Hill (15mins from Balmain) that I have been wanting to visit for a while now. Very cool kids clothes, some great crafty books, a bit of this and a groovy bit of that. The girls didn't want to leave cause she has a great little play area to keep the kiddies entertained. This is her blog if you want to check it out.

Dinner done, ice blocks for the kids and a large glass of wine for the mum and dad. Hmmmm?? I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

  1. Hi Sarah Jane,

Thanks for dropping into Calico & Ivy and then doing such a gorgeous post. Just realised you made the Coastal Breeze dress that you had on - you looked gorgeous!
