Mrs Beeton's Cookery Book 1908

My step dad's, mum's, 1st cousins, wife Irene (got that?) gave me a very special book yesterday. An antique cooking book from about 1908! How cool is that!! One from her personal collections. It's pretty amazing and I can't wait to get home and give some of the old recipes a go. For example the Boiled Pigs Head.. ahhh I don't think so. Perhaps the good old fashion Butter Scotch would be a better one to try first.

Cooking book from about 1908!

Right this very second I am sitting on my Nan & Pop's balcony over looking Lake Macquarie. The girls are getting ready to go fishing again with their Poppy, and Heath has taken Mitch for a walk along the lake. And how good is mince on toast!?? Soo yum, I just had that for breakie.. Thanks dad x

The girls caught one fishie and kissed it and threw it back
Thank god for crocheting! My new favorite portable thing to do. We have had a few little road trips these holidays and the sewing machine would have been a bit heavy on my lap in the car. So I have decided to make a crocheted blanket. Not sure how long it will take me, cause I like the whole "make and finish something right now, if not yesterday " approach, but I'm going to give it a go. Patients is the key here for me.

Little old granny squares so far..

  1. I definitely had no patience when I started knitting & crocheting compared to the instant satisfaction of sewing, but slowly learnt to love the portability of yarn and needles and also being able to pick it up and put back down constantly while on the lounge watching TV/sitting in the car... can't wait to see the blanket progress
